J.R. Smith Caught Lying After Game 1 Of The NBA Finals

The Cavs lost Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals, falling to the Warriors in overtime. No one is taking this loss harder than J.R. Smith. The Cavs' shooting guard is, unfortunately, the subject of a lot of criticism and hate tonight.

Smith made an inexcusable error at the end of regulation, taking the ball from under the hoop and dribbling it away from the basket with the game tied. He appeared to think that the Cavs were winning.

That's what he said after the game, anyway.

"I was trying to get enough to bring it out to get a shot off. I knew we were tied, I thought we were going to call timeout. If I thought we were ahead, I'd have held onto the ball and let them foul me," he told reporters.

Smith appears to have been caught in a lie, though. His head coach, Ty Lue, told reporters after the game that Smith told him he thought the Cavs were winning.

Yikes. Get your stories lined up before you talk to reporters next time.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals is set for Sunday night. It'll tip off at 8 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
