In this past year's national title game against Georgia, Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts was benched at halftime for backup Tua Tagovailoa, who led the Crimson Tide to an incredible come-from-behind victory in overtime. In the aftermath, many have wondered whether Hurts has lost his role as the team's starting signal-caller.
Last week, Hurts' father, in an interview with Bleacher Report, threw some fuel on the fire, suggesting that if Hurts were to lose the starting job this offseason, his son would be the "biggest free agent" in the history of college football. That means he'd transfer.
Of course, rumors have been flying since - regarding where Hurts would head if he left Alabama. But one seems a bit more ridiculous than the rest. And it originated from a Twitter account that, at the time of this post, has less than 300 followers.
An account called "Texas State Insider" says that Hurts will leave Alabama and "plans to enroll" at Texas State this summer.
Needless to say, reporters and fans are having a fun time with the whole thing.
Hurts is from Texas, and he may need to find a new home soon, but we feel pretty confident saying that it won't be Texas State. Hurts led Alabama, the best program in the nation, to the national title game two years in a row. We're pretty sure he'll have better options, should he choose to put himself on the market.
Twitter never disappoints.
