The Cowboys have been without Sean Lee for the past couple of weeks, as the star linebacker is dealing with an injury. Dallas is set to get Lee back soon, though there are questions about his placement into the depth chart.
Jason Garrett’s defense has played incredibly well in recent weeks. Most notably, the linebackers’ play of Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith has been exceptional.
Lee is a very good player, but there are plenty of Cowboys’ fans who don’t want to see their young LBs losing playing time to him when he returns.
Garrett issued an update on Lee this morning, making it seem like that won’t happen.
“Sean is one of our best players,” Garrett said. “Once he’s healthy and ready to go we’ll give him a chance to get back in the lineup somehow.”

As NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport notes, this is somewhat of a change in what the Cowboys had been saying about Lee previously.
“Interesting that Jason Garrett says ‘a chance to get back’ in and adds ‘somehow.’ That’s a big difference from expecting Sean Lee to become an every-down starter again,” he tweeted.
