Jay Bilas Re-Seeds The Sweet 16 Teams
The NCAA Tournament gets back underway in less than 24 hours with the Sweet 16. By the end of this weekend, only four teams will be left.
It doesn't seem like a stretch to say not too many people expected this particular group of 16 teams to make it to the second weekend. There are a handful of major programs left standing (Duke, Kansas, Villanova, Michigan, Gonzaga etc.). They were supposed to be here, but some of the other teams (Texas A&M, Nevada, Florida State, Syracuse) were not.
ESPN's Jay Bilas has released his Sweet 16 "Bilas Index." In it, he re-ranked the teams still dancing.
Bilas has his alma mater (Duke) at No. 1, which is a sensible take, but one that will surely draw eye rolls from some other fan bases.
Here is his full 1-to-16 ranking:
- Duke
- Villanova
- Kansas
- Gonzaga
- Michigan
- Kentucky
- West Virginia
- Purdue
- Texas Tech
- Texas A&M
- Clemson
- Nevada
- Florida State
- Syracuse
- Loyola Chicago
- Kansas State

The Sweet 16 starts tomorrow night on CBS and TBS.
