Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott hasn't done a ton to make fans feel confident about him as the long-term answer at QB, but the franchise's owner, Jerry Jones, apparently feels differently.
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys made quite the statement about his young quarterback while speaking to reporters today.
Jones is extremely confident in Prescott being the Cowboys' answer at quarterback for the foreseeable future.
"When I say man, he's our future. I don't know how we could ask for more, to have this opportunity for him to progress the way he has," Jones told reporters.
"If someone walked in here right now and looked like they were going to get the No. 1 pick in the draft and said we'll give you two picks for Dak. I wouldn't even consider it. No."
Of course, there probably isn't an NFL team that would be willing to trade two top NFL Draft picks for Prescott right now, but it's still a bold claim from Jones.
Jones has repeatedly said that he feels Prescott is going to be the Cowboys' quarterback. He said earlier this season that he had no doubts about giving Prescott a long-term contract extension.
Prescott is under contract through the 2019 season on his rookie deal, but it's possible the Cowboys could start talking about a long-term extension this offseason.
Most NFL experts would agree that the smart play would be to see how Prescott plays the rest of the season and go from there. At this point, many would be hesitant to give him a huge contract.
