NBA Insider Has A Major Update On Jimmy Butler, Timberwolves

jimmy butler has reportedly asked to be traded

Jimmy Butler has told the Minnesota Timberwolves' front office that he would like to be traded. The All-Star shooting guard is a free agent next summer and he has no intentions of sticking around in Minnesota. He'd like to head somewhere else sooner rather than later.

An NBA insider for The Athletic provided a major update on Butler and the Timberwolves this afternoon.

Butler will not be at media day. He won't be with the team for the start of training camp, either.

"Jimmy Butler has been granted permission to not participate in Timberwolves media day on Monday, league sources tell me and Shams Charania."

"The Timberwolves have also been made aware that Jimmy Butler will not be available for on-court activities at the outset of training camp, sources tell The Athletic."

Minnesota's head coach and general manager, Tom Thibodeau, is reportedly not interested in trading Butler before the start of the 2018-19 season.

"As Minnesota’s front office tells inquiring rivals that team has no plans to trade Jimmy Butler, owner Glen Taylor had a different message at NBA’s Board of Governors meetings: Butler is available and owners/GM’s should contact Taylor himself if necessary," ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Butler is reportedly interested in being traded to the Knicks, Clippers or Nets. Stay tuned.
