Joel Embiid Knocked Out Of Game With Scary Head Injury

Joel Embiid knocked out of game against Knicks with head injury.

Markelle Fultz's first game back with the Philadelphia 76ers was a good one. The No. 1 overall pick made some jumpers and had some nice assists.

His second game back is not going as well, mainly because of an unfortunate incident with the team's star player, Joel Embid.

Fultz and Embiid collided on a handoff play in the second quarter of tonight's game against the New York Knicks. Embiid had to leave the game.

Embiid went down to the floor hard, appearing to suffer some kind of head/face injury. It didn't look good.

The Sixers have since announced that Embiid suffered a facial contusion. He will not return tonight.

Thankfully, that appears to be the extent of the injury. He reportedly went through concussion protocol and does not have one.

Here's the play, via NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The Sixers, who are only a .5 game back of the No. 3 seed, are trailing the Knicks, 61-60, late in the first half.

Stay tuned for more updates on Embiid.
