Update On Status Of WR Josh Gordon For Tonight's Patriots Game

Josh Gordon has only been a member of the New England Patriots for a couple of days. Will the wide receiver be playing in tonight's game? Here is the latest on his status.

The Patriots traded for Gordon this week, giving up a draft pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the talented-but-often-unreliable wide receiver.

Gordon practiced with New England this week and the Patriots have put his locker right next to Tom Brady's. It's clear that the Patriots are going to work really hard to try and make Gordon a fit in New England.

Will he be able to play against the Lions tonight, though? That is up in the air, according to the latest reports.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport says that Josh Gordon is preparing to play, but the Patriots are working on scenarios in which he doesn't.

"Josh Gordon (hamstring) is no sure thing to play tonight, sources say. He’ll have to test his hamstring pre-game and the team is preparing for scenarios without him on the field, as well as one with him playing. Clear they aren’t 100% counting on it," he reports.

Josh Gordon could be a major plus for the Patriots if he's able to play tonight. New England has struggled to get consistent production from its wide receivers.

The Patriots and the Lions are set to kick off at 8:20 p.m. E.T. on NBC.
