While today's game against the Dolphins is close to a must-win matchup for the Patriots, it'll also mark Josh Gordon's first time suiting up for New England. Despite all his shortcomings in Cleveland, the early indications are that he'll excel alongside Tom Brady.
For the past decade, the Patriots have shown they're not afraid to take a chance on talented players. Although Gordon is constantly absent due to suspensions, he's clearly an elite-caliber wideout.
Well, Brady is making it a priority to put Gordon down the right path.
ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington revealed that Brady is establishing a relationship with Gordon, as the All-Pro quarterback understands how important the Pro Bowl pass-catcher can be for their offense.
"Last point on Josh Gordon before kickoff: Tom Brady has made a very deliberate effort to establish a relationship with Gordon since he arrived. Brady recognizes the potential — and he’s doing his part to make this work. It could absolutely pay off. This will be interesting," he tweeted.
With Julian Edelman still serving his four-game suspension and Danny Amendola now in Miami, the Patriots need help on the outside.
If Gordon can stay on the field, he should put together a magnificent season with Brady under center. However, it all starts today in Foxborough, as the Patriots host the Dolphins.
