The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a heartbreaker to the New Orleans Saints yesterday. The 31-28 defeat knocked Pittsburgh from atop the AFC North, meaning they will need to win and get help to make the playoffs.
Pittsburgh had a chance to tie the game or take the lead late, but second-year wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster fumbled in New Orleans territory with less than a minute remaining. It was a crushing moment for a player who has been a breakout star this year.
Smith-Schuster caught 11 passes for 115 yards yesterday, but that fumble is the play that will haunt him and the Steelers.
Fortunately, Smith-Schuster appears to be approaching the situation in a good manner, judging by his tweet today.
"When I’m at my lowest, I’m not going to hide. I’m sorry. That loss was on me. I let everyone down, it won’t happen again," Smith-Schuster wrote.
JuJu and the Steelers will have plenty of other crunch-time opportunities in the future.
Here's hoping this disappointment helps him out in the long run.
