Kawhi Leonard remains very much on the trading block, despite the San Antonio Spurs being unable - at this point, anyway - to find a suitable trading partner. The franchise appears to remain committed to making a move happen, though.
San Antonio's general manager, RC Buford, has been spotted at a Las Vegas Summer League game, sparking some new Kawhi Leonard trade rumors.
Buford, according to reporters, is currently checking the Summer League game between the Clippers and the Wizards.
Los Angeles is Leonard's preferred destination and the Clippers are very much interested in trading for him. It's unclear, though, if Los Angeles' other NBA team has enough assets to make a trade.
The Wizards have been mentioned as a possible trading partner, too.
The Athletic's Clippers reporter first tweeted out the news of Buford being spotted:
Some reports have suggested that Leonard would actually prefer to end up on the Clippers instead of the Lakers - some have doubts that he wants to play on a LeBron-led team because of how much attention that team would get - but it's unclear if that's true.
Regardless, the Clippers remain a potential option, and it seems like the Spurs' front office is interested in some of their team's young players. Los Angeles' first-round draft picks have played very well at Summer League so far. The Clippers' young picks and Tobias Harris could be a formidable Kawhi Leonard trade package.
The Lakers, Sixers and Raptors, among others, are also teams to watch the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes. Stay tuned.
