LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard teaming up on the Los Angeles Lakers almost feels like a foregone conclusion at this point. The Lakers and the Spurs have reportedly "re-engaged" on trade talks and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that a trade for Kawhi would likely "clinch" a commitment from LeBron.
ESPN NBA insider Stephen A. Smith has some new information, though. It kind of contradicts some of the earlier LeBron-Kawhi reports.
Basically, Smith is saying that Kawhi is not "enamored" with the idea of teaming up with LeBron in Los Angeles.
Kawhi is a quiet, not-at-all outspoken player, and the paparazzi-style following that this potential Lakers team will have would be extreme.
Leonard, though, is reportedly demanding a trade to Los Angeles. The Lakers are, according to multiple reports, the team he wants to end up playing on.
Sure, a LeBron-led Lakers team is going to have a ridiculous amount of coverage, but so would a Kawhi-led Lakers team. This is Los Angeles, after all.
What exactly does Kawhi want, then? To play in Los Angeles without LeBron? To go somewhere else? Or to play in L.A. with LeBron, but he just has some initial concerns?
This is all getting very interesting. NBA free agency officially starts on Sunday.
