LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard very well might be teammates in 2018-19. The Lakers are reportedly making progress on a trade with the Spurs. Los Angeles adding Kawhi could help clinch a commitment from LeBron.

Earlier today, Stephen A. Smith reported that Kawhi was not "enamored" with the idea of playing on the Lakers with LeBron. Smith said that Kawhi likely wouldn't love the paparazzi-style coverage that would come with it.

LeBron and Kawhi appear to be on the same page now, though.

NBA insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that Kawhi has "reached out" to LeBron. He told him he "very much" wants to play with him.

"They spoke about Kawhi's lockdown defensive ability, which would alleviate pressure off of LeBron," Schultz added.

Cavs insider Joe Vardon, meanwhile, is reporting that a Lakers trade for Kawhi would not "clinch" a decision from LeBron. "He didn't text KD and his going to the Lakers would not be sealed (or doomed) by whether or not they trade for Kawhi," Vardon reported.

LeBron, meanwhile, is currently enjoying his vacation. He Instagrammed a video of him cliff diving with his kids earlier this afternoon.

If Kawhi and LeBron did speak, it likely happened over the phone.
