Kawhi Leonard has been stellar in his first two games for the Toronto Raptors, and it looks like the franchise wants to exercise caution moving forward with its star forward. Leonard, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, won't play on Saturday night.
Toronto is playing a back-to-back - Friday night they took down the Boston Celtics, while Saturday night they take on the Washington Wizards. Leonard won't be suiting up for the team.
Leonard, who sat out all but nine games a season ago for the San Antonio Spurs, has helped lead the Raptors to two straight wins. The Raptors also beat Cleveland to open the season.
Toronto says its decision to keep Leonard out is for "rest."
It's a tough blow for whoever took the opening line for the contest.
Through two games, Leonard is averaging 27.5 points and 11 rebounds per contest. More importantly, the Raptors are 2-0.
The rest of his team will take on Washington at 7:00 PM ET in Capital One Arena.
