It's no secret at this point that Kawhi Leonard had not been very happy the past few years in San Antonio. But now that he's a member of the Toronto Raptors, he's turning over a new leaf. Well, sort of.
Leonard, who never shows much emotion anyway, was caught cracking the tiniest of smirks when posing for a photo with his new management on Friday night. Leonard, posing with Masai Uriji and Bobby Webster, the team's owner and GM respectively, actually looked somewhat content.
Does that mean Leonard will stick around in Toronto after this coming season? Probably not, but it appears to be a good start.
Yes, Leonard's smile isn't much here. But that's about all you get with him, so Toronto will take it.
The smart money is still on Leonard leaving Toronto next season for one of the Los Angeles franchises - either the Lakers or the Clippers. But if the Raptors have a great season and feel close to an NBA title, you never know.
Even if it doesn't work out, Toronto will have plenty of free agent money to build a contender after this season. That said, they'll have to convince big stars to come play in Toronto, which doesn't exactly have the best weather.
The Kawhi saga may be over for this year, but it'll kick back up again just before the 2019 free agency period begins.
