These 3 Teams Could Trade For Kawhi Leonard At The NBA Trade Deadline

kawhi leonard speaks at nba all-star weekend

Kawhi Leonard is currently a member of the Toronto Raptors, who moved All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan in a trade to San Antonio earlier this week. The question, of course, is for how long will the former Spurs' star be in Toronto?

The Raptors can have him for at least one year. Leonard has one year left on his contract before he's set to hit free agency in 2019.

Leonard, though, might not want to stay put in Toronto. It's unclear how he truly feels about the Raptors. Everyone knows his preference is to end up in Los Angeles.

So, it's at least a possibility that the Raptors, if they feel like they're not in position to contend, could trade Leonard at the NBA's trade deadline to regain some assets before he leaves in free agency.

Here are three teams that could do it.

The Lakers were unwilling to pay what the Spurs were asking for this summer, but the price should be lower at the trade deadline. Maybe LeBron and Co. will be ready to make an NBA Finals push and the addition of Kawhi would help a lot.

The Celtics have as many assets as anyone and if Boston feels an NBA Finals spot is a serious possibility, trading some of their young assets/picks to Toronto for Kawhi could help a lot.

The Sixers, like the Celtics, have a ton of young assets. These are assets they weren't willing to move earlier this summer, but maybe they'll want Kawhi for a playoff push once the price is lower.

Stay tuned.
