We know NBA players can be all sorts of petty. The smack talk on and off the court can be epic.
Still, what Kevin Durant did to Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum was a whole different level of disrespect. We're not sure how McCollum didn't try to fight KD in this scenario.
It all started when Durant appeared on today's episode of McCollum's Pull Up podcast. At one point, McCollum brought up his frustration after the Warriors signed Boogie Cousins.
Things deteriorated from there. Durant laughed at the notion of the Blazers being title contenders.
"You know you guys aren't going to win the championship?" Durant said. "I like you two (McCollum and Damian Lillard). You're hard to stop. But I mean, come on. You can't be upset about this."
Durant added in a "get out your feelings" and told McCollum not to worry about "what’s going on at the top of things." He also said the Blazers played "like an eighth seed" in the playoffs, even though they were the No. 3 seed.
You can listen to the whole clip below.
Now, both guys are laughing as this is going on. They are clearly friends.
But still, this had to sting a little bit if you're McCollum.
