The College Football Playoff is still three months away, but ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit has been providing weekly updates on the four teams he thinks are best positioned to qualify for the event. This week, he has some changes after Ohio State's big win.
Herbstreit, who called Ohio State's win over Penn State, came away impressed enough to move the Buckeyes up to No. 2 in his poll - behind Alabama. It's fair to suggest that the Crimson Tide is going to need to lose to drop from the No. 1 spot.
Herbstreit also has Georgia and Oklahoma in his top four. The Bulldogs took down rival Tennessee, while Oklahoma put on an offensive show against Baylor.
The ESPN analyst's foursome features three teams from last year's playoff - along with the team that finished No. 5 in the poll. The only team missing is Clemson - which is still undefeated after barely getting by Syracuse.
Notre Dame could also easily be included after its win over Stanford. The Fighting Irish are still undefeated for the 2018 season.
The first College Football Playoff rankings don't come out until October 30, but if you're looking for a current projection, you can check that out here.
