LeBron James has won 50-plus games during the regular season basically every year of his NBA career. Is this streak going to continue during the 2018-19 season with his new team, the Los Angeles Lakers?
The Lakers went 35-47 this past season. Sure, they added the best player in the league in LeBron James, but the Western Conference is brutal, and it would take a huge jump to get to that 50-win plateau.
LeBron is coming off a season in which he played every game of the regular season. He's approaching his mid-30s. He might not want to give it everything he has during the regular season.
So, it's reasonable to expect that Los Angeles will be in the 40s when it comes to win totals for 2018-19.
One former NBA head coach agrees.
Former Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy appeared on The Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz today and discussed a number of NBA topics. Among them: the Lakers and LeBron James.
SVG believes the Lakers will be a 45-win team with LeBron during the 2018-19 regular season. Lakers fans are obviously expecting more than that, but it's far from a guarantee.
The sportsbooks are expecting a big total from LeBron and the Lakers, though. One has set the over/under at 53.5.
