Earlier: As if things couldn’t get bad enough for New York Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold, now he has injury woes to contend with.
The Jets announced today that Darnold spent practice in street clothes with a boot on his right foot.
Darnold is coming off one of the worst outings of his young career. He threw a career-high four interceptions in a 13-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins, including a game-losing pick-six.
The loss dropped the Jets to 3-6 on the season and has head coach Todd Bowles on the hot seat.

It’s unclear at this time if the boot is just precautionary or a sign of a more serious problem.
Drafted No. 3 overall by the Jets out of USC, Darnold was the only QB in the 2018 NFL Draft class to be an opening day starter.
In his NFL debut, Darnold led the Jets to a dominating Monday Night Football win over the Detroit Lions.
Since then, Darnold has struggled with turnovers. His 14 INTs lead the NFL.
Update: According to Manish Mehta, Darnold will miss this Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills with a “significant” foot sprain.
