While LeBron James had the basketball world buzzing over his triple-double performance against the New Orleans Pelicans, the four-time MVP is making headlines for his actions that followed the game.
James has made it abundantly clear that he wants to play alongside Anthony Davis, who would give the Los Angeles Lakers a second superstar to rely upon. However, the veteran forward is now the subject of tampering allegations from league executives because they believe he is trying to recruit other stars before free agency even begins.
Although this might infuriate other general managers, James met with Davis for dinner following their head-t0-head meeting, per NBA insider Chris Haynes.
From Yahoo! Sports:
With the Pelicans staying overnight before traveling to Sacramento, James and Davis met up for a postgame dinner in Los Angeles, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
If Davis desires to be a member of the Lakers, it’s only a matter of time before he’s eventually sporting the purple and gold. Davis is in complete control of his destiny, and it may lead him directly to Southern California.
In the event that Los Angeles acquired Davis from New Orleans, it would most likely cost them multiple young assets and draft picks.
With the Lakers owning a 19-13 record and currently sitting at fourth place in the Western Conference, the time might be now for the front office to trade for another impact player.
