LeBron James left Cleveland this offseason for the bright lights of Los Angeles. His departure left Kevin Love as the Cavs’ best player.
There were some who wondered if the Cavs might be better off moving on from Love and tanking, opting for a full rebuild. However, they are electing to do the opposite.
Cleveland announced a massive extension for Love earlier today. The new deal is worth $120 million over four years.
LeBron is clearly happy for his old teammate. He congratulated Love on Twitter after the news got out.
“Secure the bag!!! Congrats brother @kevinlove. Nobu Malibu or Wally’s on you!!!” James wrote.

Wonder if Love will actually treat LeBron to dinner. It’s not like either guy can’t afford a meal.
Love averaged 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for the Cavs last season. That’s very solid, but the team will be expecting more.
In order for him to have a big impact for the Cavs next season, Love will probably need to increase his output closer to what he did when he was in Minnesota (19.2 ppg, 12.2 rpg over six seasons).
