LeBron James Has Chosen His Lakers Jersey Number

LeBron James changed his jersey number when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat back in 2010, going from No. 23 to No. 6. Then, when he returned to Cleveland in 2014, he switched back, returning to No. 23.

It doesn't look like there will be another jersey number change this time around. James appears to be going with his traditional number with the Lakers.

Los Angeles' team store, at least, has LeBron wearing No. 23 with the Lakers.

ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell is now reporting that it's official, too.

Fanatics has changed the jersey number placeholder for LeBron Lakers jersey preorders from No. 00 to No. 23.

The Lakers have plenty of jersey numbers retired, but No. 23 is not one of them. There were some who thought LeBron might switch back to No. 6 with the Lakers (like he did with the Heat) but that doesn't appear to be happening.

There will definitely be a ton of LeBron No. 23 Lakers jerseys being sold in the coming weeks. It will, no doubt, be the No. 1 selling jersey in the NBA - probably for the foreseeable future.

James, meanwhile, will not be making any public appearances until the end of the month. He's currently in Europe with his wife.
