LeBron James had yet to officially comment on his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency - until today.
The Lakers' new star, in a video for UNINTERRUPTED, commented on his decision to join the Lakers, signing a four-year, $153 million contract with the franchise.
LeBron was talking about what's going to happen tomorrow. On Monday, he'll be opening a public school, the I Promise School, in Akron, Ohio. James said it's partially bittersweet because he wishes he could be there for the kids at his school on a daily basis, but he's moving from Ohio to California.
While discussing his move to Los Angeles, LeBron talked about what it's like to be a Laker.
"This is kind of like a dream come true for me. Growing up, I was a Cowboys fan, I was a Bulls fan, I was a Yankees fan," he said. "You look at the Lakers, being able to play for a historic franchise with so much history."
LeBron also discussed Magic Johnson and what it will be like to partner with him.
"I think timing is everything. For me to be in this position now, the excitement I have to be a Laker...I believe the Lakers is a historical franchise and that's what we're trying to get back to."
LeBron will likely be commenting further during the opening of his school in Akron, Ohio on Monday. Stay tuned.
