With the Jaguars currently sliding in the AFC North, this weekend's showdown with the Texans will have huge implications on the division. Considering the recent struggles for Blake Bortles, the status of Leonard Fournette is crucial for this matchup.
Over the past few weeks, Fournette's hamstring has kept him on the sideline for Jacksonville. Unfortunately for head coach Doug Marrone, his offense will have to manufacture points without its top running back.
According to Jaguars reporter Daniel Popper, Fournette is out for this Sunday's game against Houston.
This injury means T.J. Yeldon will have to shoulder the load in the backfield.
In six games, Yeldon has 299 rushing yards on 67 carries. As for the rest of the offense, wideout Dede Westbrook is the only other consistent contributor.
Even though Jacksonville will be short-handed in the running game, the defense should generate pressure on the Texans. However, the outcome of this matchup might fall on Bortles, who was abysmal in the Jaguars' loss to the Cowboys.
Perhaps, Fournette will return next weekend, when the Jags play the Eagles in London.
