Leonard Fournette did not play in Jacksonville Jaguars' Week 2 victory over the New England Patriots. Here is the latest on the star running back's status heading into this weekend's game.
Fournette, one of the top running backs in the NFL, remains questionable for the Jaguars' Week 3 game. Jacksonville's head coach provided an update on his status today.
The Jaguars' star running back is being listed as "day to day," according to Jacksonville's coaching staff. Fournette is still nursing a hamstring injury. He attempted to play in the team's win over the Patriots on Sunday, but wasn't able to be cleared for kickoff.
Jacksonville is not scheduled to practice today, but the Jaguars will be back on the field on Wednesday. Head coach Doug Marrone says Fournette will practice tomorrow if he's ready.
John Reid had the full update:
"Leonard Fournette (hamstring) still listed as day to day. Coach Marrone said if Fournette is ready, he will practice on Wednesday. No practice scheduled for Tuesday," he tweeted.
Marrone had a lengthier quote on Fournette's status while speaking to reporters on Monday:
“I was really optimistic last week and obviously I was wrong. That’s the one thing that kicks me in the butt all the time now,” Marrone said about Fournette. “Sometimes when I feel like he’s going to be alright and I want to say it and I don’t. Hey, this guy might not [play] and he does. Again, we took another test today and it was good. Tomorrow will be another test. We’ll take it day-by-day.”
Fournette and the Jaguars are set to host the Titans on Sunday.
