Jaguars Announce Official Injury Update For Star RB Leonard Fournette

leonard fournette had to leave the game with an injury

Leonard Fournette missed last weekend's game against the New England Patriots, as the star running back was recovering from a hamstring injury. The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without the former first-round pick today, too.

Fournette has officially been ruled out for this afternoon's contest. The Jaguars are set to take on the Titans.

Jacksonville has ruled Fournette inactive for today's game as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. He suffered the injury in Week 1 against New York.

Fournette is one of several notable NFL players not playing today.

ESPN had an update on Fournette and his status for Week 3 earlier today:

Sources had indicated on Saturday night that Fournette was expected back against Tennessee, but the Jaguars have decided to play it safe with the second-year player.

Backup running back T.J. Yeldon is also listed as questionable because of an ankle injury, but he is expected to play.

"We've been playing a lot of tough games," coach Doug Marrone said Friday. "Players are doing the best job they can to get themselves ready to go, but we played a home opener in New York. We played a home opener here. Now we've got a divisional opponent.

"When you look at it, a lot of teams are going through the same thing, just trying to keep everybody as healthy as they possibly can."

Fournette will continue to nurse his hamstring injury moving forward. Hopefully he'll be able to get back on the field for Week 4. Fournette had 9 carries for 41 yards and 3 catches for 14 yards before getting hurt against the Giants in Week 1.

The Jaguars have played well in the absence of Fournette. Specifically, quarterback Blake Bortles has looked extremely good.

Jacksonville is 2-0, getting ready to kick off at 1 p.m. E.T. against Tennessee.
