Louis Oosthuizen was minutes away from teeing off at today's PGA Championship. Instead, he has abruptly withdrawn from the tournament.

The South African golfer has had solid success in the four major tournaments during his career.

Back in 2010, he dominated The Open Championship, beating Lee Westwood by seven strokes to win his first and, to this point, only major title.

He has finished second in every other major event, including last year's PGA Championship. Justin Thomas beat him by two strokes.

In 2015, he finished tied for second in both the U.S. Open and British Open. He was second in the Masters in 2012.

Moments ago, the PGA Championship announced that Louis Oosthuizen had withdrawn.

Texas native Kelly Kraft has taken his place. He played in last year's PGA Championship, finishing in a tie for 58th. Oosthuizen was in St. Louis. He played a warm-up round yesterday.

So far, no reason has been given for his withdrawal. We'll have more as we learn it.
