For much of the 2017-18 NBA season, mock draft projections had European star Luka Doncic going No. 1 overall. That's not going to happen at tonight's draft. However, Doncic is still projected to go high.

The Sacramento Kings are considering Doncic at No. 2. If he doesn't go there, he'll probably go in the No. 3 slot (either to Atlanta or to a team that trades up into that slot).

Doncic will be at the NBA Draft at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He'll be joined by his family.

The NBA has implemented a new NBA Draft move, letting the top picks bring a couple of family members up to the stage with them.

Doncic, in all likelihood, will have his mother with him. She posted on Instagram today that she's in New York City with her son.

His mother, Mirjam Poterbin, has been a huge supporter of his career. She's at almost all of his games. Doncic's mom spoke to Euro Hoops about her son's love for the game and when he started to really enjoy it. "I think that Luka was born with it," she said. "Ever since he started walking, when he was one year old, he was playing with a ball in his hands. He was doing all types of sports. He liked soccer a lot but was too tall to play. As I said, I think that Luka was born to play basketball.”

Doncic is considered by some to be the best European prospect ever. He's excelled at the European professional level in a way few players at his age have before.

We can't wait to watch him play in the NBA. He should be one of the most-exciting players in the 2018 NBA Draft class.

The 2018 NBA Draft is set to begin shortly after 7 p.m. E.T. It'll be televised on ESPN.
