Lynn Raisman isn’t happy with Tom Izzo.
Tom Izzo came under fire this weekend. Izzo was asked about the decision from Michigan State’s school board to support president Lou Ann Simon despite how she and the university handled the Larry Nassar situation.
Izzo’s response came after his team’s victory over Indiana. He came out in support of the university’s decision to keep Simon, but caused a controversy with one of the lines of his statement.
Here is part of Izzo’s statement:
“It’s been a very difficult week for me. As a father, it’s been a difficult week. I listened to the stories of courageous women and I look at the survivors who spoke, and in all honesty, Nassar permanently damaged and changed the lives of so many of those people.
I feel like it’s changed the life of all of us at Michigan State in some way, shape or form. As a father, that’s difficult to even fathom. I hope that the right person was convicted and I have to say though, that I have the utmost, the utmost faith and respect for the leadership of our president, too, at Michigan State.”
The line in bold is the one that may have been taken out of context. However, that didn’t stop the media from being angry with the Michigan State head coach.
Now, a parent of one of Nassar’s victims has come out against Izzo. Aly Raisman’s mother, Lynn, had a few choice words for Izzo.
Lynn Raisman had the following message for Izzo: “Dear Tom Izzo, I’m sorry it’s been a difficult week for you. Did you hear, Larry Nassar also said it was difficult. Since you “hope the right person was convicted” I wonder if you are a complete and total MORON or just a LIAR when you claim you listened to the impact statements.”
Dear Tom Izzo,
I'm sorry it's been a difficult week for you. Did you hear, Larry Nassar also said it was difficult. Since you "hope the right person was convicted" I wonder if you are a complete and total MORON or just a LIAR when you claim you listened to the impact statements. https://t.co/CIdiTPtXa1

Raisman clearly felt the way several media members did when reading Izzo’s statement. His “right person” comment definitely is strange, but not everyone will read it that way.
