One of the historically great college football programs is having an awful recruiting day. The USC Trojans entered the Early Signing Period outside of the top 25 in terms of recruiting classes for the 2019 cycle.

A few hours into the signing day and things aren't getting any better. Despite the addition of former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury as the team's new offensive coordinator, the Trojans haven't added much to their class thus far.

According to 247Sports' Team Rankings, USC currently sits at No. 28 in the 2019 cycle.

College football analyst Stewart Mandel commented on the rough morning clay Helton and company are having out in California.

A few notable programs sits ahead of USC with their recruiting class this year. Most notably, Purdue, Nebraska and NC State all sit ahead of USC in the rankings and the Trojans are in danger of finishing the 2019 cycle outside of the top-20.

Not good for a program that finished in the top-5 last year.
