Manny Machado Asked About A Possible Trade To The Phillies

Manny Machado could be a member of the Philadelphia Phillies by the end of the week. The Baltimore Orioles' All-Star shortstop is very much on the trading block. The NL East contenders are reportedly one of the frontrunners to land him.

The All-Star infielder was asked this afternoon about possibly being shipped to Philadelphia. Machado had good things to say about the Phillies.

Machado, speaking at the MLB All-Star Game festivities, said the ovation Phillies fans gave him when the Orioles played in Philadelphia was awesome.

"I did hear that nice ovation when I was there. That was pretty awesome," Machado told reporters.

Rumors were swirling earlier today that the Phillies and the Orioles have a "handshake deal" done regarding a Machado trade. NJ Advance Media's Joe Giglio tweeted earlier that he's heard a trade will be announced Wednesday morning.

Barstool Sports reported that a "handshake deal" between the Orioles and the Phillies for Machado has been confirmed.

ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney has maintained that the Phillies are one of - if not the - favorite to land Machado. "Orioles making progress and narrowing their focus in the Machado trade talks. Phillies and Brewers appear to be among the finalists," Olney tweeted.

Machado is set to play in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night. It's possible a trade could be announced as soon as Wednesday morning.
