Manny Machado is leaving Baltimore this week. He will likely be traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers tomorrow, barring a last-minute change.
The Dodgers emerged as the favorite to land Machado early this morning. This afternoon, it was reported that LA is expected to acquire the 26-year-old star on Wednesday.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale broke the news.
Machado has no doubt been hearing all the trade speculation over the last few weeks. He knows he is on his way out of Baltimore, it is just a matter of when.
Machado has handled all the whispers pretty well, all things considered. He was asked moments ago at the All-Star Game in Washington, D.C. about the possibility of going to Los Angeles.
The 26-year-old Machado is slashing .315/.387/.575 this season with 24 home runs and 65 RBI in 96 games. Tonight, he will play in his fourth All-Star game in six-plus seasons with the Orioles.
Assuming LA gets the deal done, Machado will slide into the shortstop position vacated by Corey Seager, who has been out since April with Tommy John surgery.
