It looks like Manny Machado will be traded tomorrow. Barring a last-minute change, he's headed West.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been regarded as a contender for Machado for some time. This morning, they were dubbed the favorite to land him.
Now, USA Today's Bob Nightengale says it will happen, barring a change at the 11th hour.
The Baltimore Orioles, barring a last minute snag, will trade All-Star shortstop Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, according to a baseball official with direct knowledge of the deal.
The Brewers and Phillies are still lurking, per Nightengale. However,
The Dodgers need a permanent replacement for Corey Seager for the rest of the season. Seager, the team's young shortstop, has been out since April with Tommy John surgery.
Machado is a free agent at the end of the season. The Dodgers could afford him, but if he is insistent on playing shortstop next season, they might have to pass with Seager returning.
At the very least, LA is getting themselves the best two-plus month rental in baseball. Machado is hitting .315 this season with 24 homers and 65 RBI.
