Matt Ryan, Falcons Agree To Record-Setting New Contract

It's good to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. You knew this, already, but here is another reminder of just how lucrative a position it can be.

Matt Ryan is set to become the highest-paid quarterback in the history of the sport. The Falcons and their star QB have reportedly agreed to a record-breaking contract extension. ESPN's Chris Mortensen announced the news.

The contract extension for the 32-year-old quarterback is reportedly worth $30-plus million/season. He has $100 million guaranteed.

"Matt Ryan has agreed to a 5 year extension with Atlanta Falcons that makes him first $30 mill per year QB w $100 mill guaranteed, per league and team sources," Mortensen tweeted.

Ryan is a four-time Pro Bowler. He led the Falcons to the Super Bowl two seasons ago. The star QB was the league's MVP in 2016. He led the league in passer rating that season. Atlanta has announced the news on Twitter. The full release can be seen below:
