RG3 might not be playing pro football right now, but he’s still winning in a different aspect of his life.
Robert Griffin III and his fiancée, Grete Sadeiko, are set to tie the knot this weekend according to the former NFL quarterback’s Instagram page.
Year 27 was the the best year of my entire life and I thank God for it. The adversity has strengthened me while the joy has made me full. Spending a year out of football, away from the team game that I love so dearly was not easy as a competitor. I asked God what he was trying to show me, grow in me and teach me. God reenforced to me there is no value for life and love. You can not put a value on something that can't be measured. Life is a beautiful thing that must be appreciated and never taken for granted. It is your responsibility to live your best life and help all that you can live their best life too. Real love is rare, hard to find and the most sought after thing in the world not named money. God showed me in year 27 how he has blessed me in life and love outside of football and through that showed me why my story isn't over in life or football. My story isn't over because of them. My soon to be wife, gorgeous daughters, amazing family & friends and of course the amazing support from you guys. With them, I will always have the strength to get up, keep fighting and stare adversity in the face and overcome it. But even more specifically, without the love of my life, soulmate, muse, ride or die, my everything @gretesadeiko I wouldn't be able to do any of it. Thank you God for blessing me with her. Thank you god for blessing me with them and thank them for giving me this life and love. #Year27 #Life #Love #Grateful #KnowYourWhy
After a quick glance of both of their respective social media accounts, the pair appears to be inseparable, but the path to the altar wasn’t always a smooth one.
Running is in the 24-year-old’s blood. Her older sister, Grit, is also a heptathlete and captured the women’s heptathlon event at the 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships.
The couple once got into an altercation after Griffin, a former track star himself, reportedly bumped into another man while running on FSU’s track and had to be restrained by Sadeiko.
It was Griffin’s turn to come to the rescue when Sadeiko tweeted that she was concerned she might be deported after Donald Trump was elected president. A little foreshadowing, perhaps? Because while tweeting support is sweet, getting married certainly ensures she isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.
The couple started dating while Griffin was in the process of divorcing his first wife and high school sweetheart, Rebecca Liddicoat after roughly three years of marriage. The quick turnaround apparently raised a few eyebrows and Griffin took to Twitter to defend his new relationship and dispute any accusations that there had been infidelity on his part.
The couple was engaged in May of 2017 and has an eight-month baby girl, Gloria, who was born last July. Gloria is Griffin’s second daughter. He has a daughter named Reese from his previous marriage. It’s a given that Gloria is pretty adorable, but given her pedigree, we could be looking at a future track star…
Congrats to the happy couple.
