The star defensive lineman stayed on the bench while the anthem played.
A day after Marshawn Lynch was seen sitting while the national anthem played before a preseason game, one of his former teammates did the same.
Michael Bennett sat with a towel draped over his head as the national anthem played before the Seahawks' game against the Chargers in Los Angeles this evening.
The star defensive lineman appeared to be the only player sitting.
Bennett and his brother, Martellus, a tight end for Green Bay, have not been afraid to voice their opinions on social issues in recent years. Michael Bennett has also supported Colin Kaepernick, who knelt during the national anthem during the 2016 NFL season.
He said this of Kaepernick not being on an NFL roster.
"It's just weird," he told reporters. "I mean, some quarterbacks, as we all know, shouldn't be playing, but they are, and this guy is sitting on the side. We all know why. It's just hard to fathom that he's not having a job this year."
