Michael Wilbon Thinks Something "Had To Happen" Before Michael Bennett's Dirty Hits
The Pardon The Interruption host thinks something had to have happened.
Michael Bennett had a ridiculously dirty finish to Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, twice diving into the knees of Jacksonville offensive lineman Brandon Linder while the offense was in a victory formation.
ESPN's Pardon The Interruption discussed the play at length on Monday.
Co-host Michael Wilbon took a defensive approach, suggesting that something "had to happen" between Bennett and Linder before the Seahawks' lineman's dirty hit.
“Michael Bennett, who by the way is under consideration as a nominee for NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year, Michael Bennett, not a guy to go after that sort of victory formation. I think something happened. I think something between linemen happened: ‘you were dirty to me, and I’m gonna get you now,’” he said.
This is a fairly controversial take, considering Wilbon went off on New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski for his dirty hit on a Buffalo Bills defender last week.
Wilbon has since been under fire by New England Patriots fans on Twitter.
