Michigan football is prepping for a pivotal year. The Wolverines are ranked in the top 15 and expected to contend for the Big Ten title.
In his three seasons at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh has registered a pair of 10-win seasons but has never finished higher than third place in the Big Ten East. Harbaugh still has plenty of support at Michigan, but expectations are high as well.
Perhaps the biggest key to success for Harbaugh's team this year will be the play of new quarterback Shea Patterson. Patterson is immediately eligible after transferring in from Ole Miss, and Harbaugh named him the starter the other day.
It looks like Patterson has plenty of confidence in his new head coach. Michigan fans will be very happy hearing what the junior signal caller said about Harbaugh today.
Patterson called Harbaugh "the best coach" he's ever been around.
Patterson played for Hugh Freeze and Matt Luke at Ole Miss. Neither of those guys are as good as Harbaugh.
Time will tell what the Harbaugh-Patterson partnership will turn into. Michigan begins its season on Sept. 1, and they will be challenged right out of the gate.
The Wolverines open up at Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 1.
