Few players have more hype heading into the 2018 World Cup than Mo Salah. The Liverpool star has become one of the best players in the world. All eyes will be on him in Russia today.

Salah, 26, is set to make his debut at the 2018 World Cup today. His Egyptian team is set to play its second game of the tournament this afternoon. Egypt is taking on Russia, the host country team that has already played once so far this tournament.

The Liverpool star has become one of the biggest names in soccer, but his off-the-field life has remained mostly private.

Salah is married to Magi Salah. The couple met in school while living in the Egyptian village of Basion Gharbia. They are both devout Muslims.

“He [Mo Salah] is someone who embodies Islam’s values and wears his faith on his sleeve,” Miqdaad Versi, the assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, explained to The New York Times. “He has a likability. He is the hero of the team. Liverpool, in particular, has rallied around him in a really positive way. He is not the solution to Islamophobia, but he can play a major role.”

The couple was married in 2013. She's a biotechnologist and lives in England with Mo and her child.

Mo and his wife, Magi, have one child, a daughter named Makka. She was born in in London in 2014 while Mo was playing for Chelsea.

Salah is certainly ready to get his 2018 World Cup started. He posted the following message on Twitter on Monday night.

"Ready for tomorrow. 100 million strong," he wrote.

Salah will be one of the most-followed players at this World Cup. We can't wait to watch him start playing this afternoon.

Egypt and Russia are set to begin play at 2 p.m. E.T. The game will be televised on FOX.
