More Big ESPN Layoffs Could Be Coming

An ESPN sign hanging that's very old

A couple of more big names could be out at ESPN.

ESPN's layoffs have continued this week. Today, we learned business reporter Andrew Brant and NFL insider Adam Caplan are out.

More big names could be coming.

Longtime ESPN NFL reporter Ed Werder, who was part of the company's layoffs, discussed everything that's happened on his new podcast, The Doomsday Podcast.

During his discussion with Matt Mosley, Werder mentioned a couple of big names at ESPN that we've yet to learn about.

Here's the quote, from Awful Announcing:

It’s not the quality of your work that’s a factor. Well, it causes me to wonder, what is ESPN about? Because I thought it was about news and information and highlights, and I’m not sure that is the point of emphasis anymore. How is ESPN going to cover the NFL without all of the people who lost their jobs. What happens without Merril Hoge and Ron Jaworksi to NFL Matchup? What happens to NFL Insiders without a number of analysts, former general managers like Joe Banner and Mark Dominik. Are we really about to see a time when ESPN can no longer afford to cover its most valuable property in the way that it has?

Merril Hoge and Ron Jaworski have been staples of ESPN's NFL coverage for a decade-plus.

The network's NFL coverage will certainly look different moving forward.
