Nationals Trade Rumors Continue To Swirl After Loss To Marlins

A view of the Nationals stands at a game.

The Nationals entered this weekend's series against the Marlins likely needing to show something to push general manager Mike Rizzo towards buying at the trade deadline instead of selling. They didn't really do that, though.

Washington won the first two games of the series in dominant fashion, but lost on Saturday night in extra innings and then were two-hit in a loss on Sunday.

The Nats, however, remain just six games out of first place in the National League East.

Few teams are going to be more interesting to watch over the next 48 hours.

Trade rumors are going to continue to swirl for the reigning division champs. Bryce Harper has been mentioned as a possible trade piece. The Dodgers are reportedly interested in making a move for him if he's available.

Rumors are swirling on the buying front for the Nats, too. There's been talk of a trade for All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto for a while. Have the Nats done enough to prompt Rizzo to pull the trigger on that, though? Probably not.

The trade deadline is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. E.T. Stay tuned.
