On Monday night, news leaked that Georgia freshman quarterback Justin Fields was set to transfer from the program. Although the news wasn't confirmed until Tuesday afternoon, it's now official that Fields will leave Georgia.
According to Paul Maharry of Rivals, Fields is now listed in the NCAA Transfer Portal, which tracks the eligible transfers. Now that Fields is listed in the portal, other programs can reach out to the former five-star high school recruit.
Here's the news from Maharry.
Fields saw action in all but one game this season. The star freshman racked up 328 yards and four touchdowns through the air and 266 yards on the ground with an additional four touchdowns.
Fields sat behind sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm, who led Georgia to the College Football Playoff in 2017 and nearly had the Bulldogs there again in 2018. Fromm is back for another year next season and likely would be the starter yet again.
With Fromm in front of him, Fields decided to take his talents elsewhere.
