An NFL insider has weighed in on the future of Kliff Kingsbury following the head coach's firing at Texas Tech.

Kingsbury, who played quarterback for the Red Raiders, was fired by the program on Sunday morning.

The former Texas Tech head coach shouldn't be out of work for long, though.

NFL teams are reportedly going to have interest in Kingsbury for an offensive coordinator role. One NFL insider says he's not going to be surprised if Kingsbury even gets an interview for a head coaching position.

"I realize it’s always a bummer to get fired in football, but I have a feeling Kliff Kingsbury will look back on this as a blessing in disguise. And it won’t shock me for a second if he gets interviewed — maybe even hired — for a head coaching gig in the NFL. Not OC. Head coach," NFL insider Jeff Darlington tweeted today.

Kingsbury does seem bound for the NFL at some point with the way the league is going. Landing a head coaching role right away seems unlikely, but maybe he could get there after a couple of seasons as a candidate.
