It hasn’t been a great season for the New York Jets, but if there was one bright spot for the upstart AFC East squad, then it’d have to be the progression of Sam Darnold.
Although the USC product doesn’t have ample talent around him, the first-round pick occasionally flashes star potential. Unfortunately, a foot injury kept him out of the team’s recent game against the Buffalo Bills.
With the New England Patriots coming into MetLife Stadium this Sunday, it appears Darnold is still not ready to return to the gridiron.
The Jets released their injury report for this weekend, and it’s official that Darnold will be inactive once again. Josh McCown will be the starting quarterback for New York.

In addition to Darnold on the injury report, the Jets might be without Marcus Maye and James Carpenter in their divisional showdown.
Darnold has 1,934 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions through nine games.
His struggles are well-documented, but the rookie gunslinger hasn’t received help from his supporting cast. Perhaps Darnold will reclaim his starting job next weekend, when the Jets face the Tennessee Titans on the road.
