An NFL team announced a major quarterback decision ahead of this afternoon's game. It's pretty stunning.

Sam Bradford, who began the year as the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback, is no longer QB1. Josh Rosen has taken the starting job in his rookie season.

Bradford has been demoted past the backup job, too.

The veteran quarterback has been demoted to third string and will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in every game that he doesn't play.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has the details:

"In one week, Sam Bradford is going from Cardinals' starting QB to No. 3, per source. Being No. 3 means Bradford won't be active today. And not being active means he loses an active roster bonus of $312,500 per game. But going forward, AZ QB depth chart is Rosen, Glennon, Bradford," he tweeted.

Welp, that's pretty tough.

The Cardinals are set to host the Seahawks at 4:05 p.m. E.T.
