Notre Dame's football program took to Twitter this afternoon to unveil the Fighting Irish's new "Shamrock Series" uniforms for the upcoming season. The uniforms, which have a New York Yankees theme, are not being received well.

Brian Kelly and Co. are set to take on Syracuse at Yankees Stadium in The Bronx on Saturday, Nov. 17 this season. The Fighting Irish always have a special new uniform for their "Shamrock Series" game and they've got a really special one for this season.

Notre Dame's 2018 Shamrock Series uniform is New York Yankees-themed, pinstripes and all.

The uniform does not appear to be getting good reviews by Fighting Irish fans.

Here is the full unveiling by Notre Dame.

"Two Iconic Brands. One Uniform. One Night. Yankee Stadium."

Here's a look at some of the previous Notre Dame "Shamrock Series" uniforms:

Notre Dame and Syracuse are set to play on Nov. 17 at Yankee Stadium. It's the Fighting Irish's 27th appearance at either the old or new Yankee Stadium.

"This meeting will mark the ninth installment of the Shamrock Series, an event where the Irish play a scheduled home game at a neutral site. In addition to the game, the weekend features various off-the-field events aimed at bringing the full Notre Dame campus fan experience on the road to cities around the country. Presentations by University faculty and researchers, Mass, a service project, a 5K run/walk and marching band performances are planned leading up to kickoff," Notre Dame says.

Notre Dame is set to open its 2018 season on Sept. 1 against Michigan. That game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. and be televised on NBC.

The Fighting Irish enter the season with high expectations. Notre Dame is ranked No. 11 in the preseason Coaches' Poll. This is viewed by some as a make-it-or-break it year for Brian Kelly in South Bend, Ind.
