Earlier Friday morning, Football Scoop reported Urban Meyer spoke with Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith to inform the AD of his plans to step down following the 2019 football season. According to the report, Meyer planned to step down in the near future.

In the interim, Ohio State would give Ryan Day a significant raise and make him the "coach in waiting" until Meyer left the program.

It didn't take long for Gene Smith to address the report. According to Bill Landis of The Athletic, Smith said "Urban and I have not discussed that," pertaining to Meyer's future with the program.

Meyer's future with the program has been up in the air this season as reports of a health scare suggested this might be his last season with the team.

Ohio State sits at 11-1 on the season and has an outside shot at the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes take on Northwestern on Saturday night for the Big Ten title.
