A former four-star recruit has announced his transfer destination from Oklahoma.

Addison Gumbs, one of the top recruits in the 2017 class, is heading to the Pac-12. He is reportedly enrolling at Oregon State.

The decision to head to Oregon State is somewhat of a surprising one, but Gumbs has connections to the area.

News of the transfer was first reported by BeaverBlitz:

A week ago, news broke out of Norman (OK) that former 247 Sports Composite four-star WDE from the 2017 class, Addison Gumbs was granted his release and would be transferring from the program. Over the past couple days, rumors have been discussed inside The Lodge that Oregon State was a possible landing spot for the talented defensive player. It appears today that those rumors have been confirmed, as Addison Gumbs has been identified in the Oregon State student directory.

The announcement to transfer came just days after Addison had sustained a season-ending knee injury in practice, the day before the Sooners were to kickoff their season against Florida Atlantic. Gumbs, who was entering his true sophomore season, played in 4 games last fall, recording eight tackles and a pass break-up. Addison had been slotted in as the starting Jack-backer in their 4-2-5 defensive alignment.

Gumbs is one of several former top recruits to transfer to Oregon State this season.

The former top Oklahoma recruit will be joined by former Nebraska four-star prospects Tristan Gebbia and Avery Roberts.
