Olympic Runner David Torrence Found Dead In Scottsdale Pool

The Olympic runner was found dead at the bottom of the pool.

An Olympic runner was found dead at the bottom of a Scottsdale, Ariz. pool on Monday.

David Torrence, a Malibu native who competed for Peru at the 2016 Summer Olympics, was found at the bottom of a condo complex's pool at roughly 7:30 a.m. He was 31.

Detectives determined there were no signs of foul play.

It's not clear how long Torrence had been in the water.

Hoster also said that Torrence came to Scottsdale a few weeks ago to train.

Although the emergency call went out as a drowning, it will be up to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office to determine exactly how Torrence died.

Torrence competed collegiately at the University of Cal-Berkeley and became a professional after graduating in 2008.

Rest in peace, David.
